A belief may be true or it may be false - but we don't know which it is. But we continue to aspire to true beliefs - and why not? The pursuit of truth is important even if plagued by uncertainty.Sshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01058764631752035273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7055119062751122451.post-61657827607841773052019-12-31T09:39:58.143+10:002019-12-31T09:39:58.143+10:00If truth is unknowable, then what about falsehoods...If truth is unknowable, then what about falsehoods?<br />-- ConfususAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7055119062751122451.post-36352196415779450932019-12-31T09:38:43.419+10:002019-12-31T09:38:43.419+10:00I think there *are* empirical truths, but I do not...I think there *are* empirical truths, but I do not think we can *know* them! As a simple example extending what I discussed - the earth is not flat, nor is it a sphere - although both offer useful approximates in certain contexts. There is an empirical truth about the shape of the earth, but we don't know it and can't know it. Not only is it hyper-complex, it is changing constantly. There is a truth, but we cannot know it.Sshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01058764631752035273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7055119062751122451.post-12759299820580094272019-12-31T08:37:50.922+10:002019-12-31T08:37:50.922+10:00I enjoyed reading your slam, but the answer to the...I enjoyed reading your slam, but the answer to the question remains elusive.
